Preventive Treatment
The philosophy of modern dentistry chiefly focuses on prevention of disease and minimal intervention. This essentially means that we do everything possible to conserve your natural teeth and prevent problems from recurring, hence our team is well versed in the latest Oral Hygiene regimes and products which you may benefit from. We also have a broad range of professional services such as fluoride treatments, fissure sealants (plastic coatings to prevent decay in deep grooves) and mouth guards for contact sport.
Periodontal (Gum) Treatment
Emphasis on the health of gums has changed greatly in recent times and we offer comprehensive treatments to both prevent and address gum disease with the aid of our registered dental hygienists. We also have a close affiliation with several highly regarded gum specialists in Kitchener/Waterloo and referral can be arranged if necessary.
Restorative Treatment (Fillings)
We use a broad range of the latest materials, including tooth coloured adhesive composite resins and glass ionomer cements, special alloys and amalgam.
Crowns and Fixed Bridges
Some teeth cannot be restored successfully with a simple filling. For those teeth which require superior strength and aesthetics, have cracks, had root canal treatment or little tooth remains, your dentist may suggest a porcelain, zirconia or a gold crown (cap). You may also have spaces or gaps between teeth where teeth may have been lost over time. In these cases a bridge may be an appropriate option to close these gaps and replace the missing teeth.
For extra patient convenience, we offer same day crowns! For most crowns, instead of having to come to two different appointments (one for crown preparation and a second for crown cementation), two weeks apart, you can have the whole procedure done in one single day!
Dental Implants
Titanium implants are one of the greatest achievements in modern dentistry. They consist of a small titanium screw which is placed into the bone where a tooth once stood. A tooth is then attached to it like a normal crown or bridge. They have a large range of applications but are chiefly used to replace missing teeth without damaging the surrounding teeth. They can look and function like natural teeth and can also be used for patients with loose or unstable denture problems. Ask Dr. Cardieri if dental implants are an option for you.
Cosmetic Dentistry
We provide a complete range of Cosmetic Dentistry procedures including whitening and using bonded composite resin or porcelain to reshape and improve appearance of discoloured teeth. These procedures are also known as composite or porcelain veneers.
Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)
When bacteria infects the pulp (nerve) of a tooth, it can develop an infection. Signs of pulp damage may include pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discoloration of the tooth, swelling, tenderness of the overlying gums or a bad taste in the mouth. On the other hand, there may be no symptoms at all. If pulp inflammation or infection is left untreated, it can eventually cause pain, swelling and loss of the supporting bone. We aim to save infected teeth whenever possible rather than extract them. This involves removing the infected nerve with root canal treatment. The root canals are thoroughly cleaned out, treated with medicaments and sealed with a rubber material called gutta-percha to prevent re-infection and allow us to build up the tooth once more.
Prosthetic Treatment (Dentures)
We offer a full range of denture services for both full and partial dentures including same day repairs.
Intra-Oral Cameras & Digital X-Rays
Intra-oral cameras are available in all operatories to give you an insight of your mouth. And to provide more accuracy in our diagnostics and minimize the radiation exposure of our patients, all operatories are equipped with digital x-ray machines. Digital x-rays can reduce up to 80% the radiation exposure when compared to traditional film x-rays.
